Rationale
With cloud computing being the new trend, it has become easier to carry files from one place to another or to share data with other people. The need to save files on pen drives or disks, or to email them back and forth is becoming obsolete.
Cloud computing allows files stored on a local hard drive to be accessed from any computer or mobile device, anywhere in the world, as long as there is Internet access, making them totally mobile.
Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides are productivity apps that let the user create online documents, collaborate with other people in real time, and store them on the cloud-based storage Google Drive.
Also, like almost everything with Google, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides are free. The user does not need to buy and install office packages, making such applications more accessible. Furthermore, Google applications offer a solution to cross-platform compatibility issues, making it possible to access files on any operating system (iOS, Windows, Linux such as Chrome OS), and on any ICT hardware (desktop or laptop computers, tablets, mobile phones, phablets).
This course will make use of Google applications to meet the needs of those who want to learn how to use office applications but do not want to invest a substantial amount of money on software they would not know how to use.
